Here's a beautiful initiative to promote Poland EM, who has a rather astonishing explosion in the Eastern European countries. Astonishing cause not anticipated, since the first musical explorations of Marek Bilinski, we barely heard about the EM ascend in Poland. But since 3 to 5 years, new names have emerged, all interesting. In addition to new artists, Web sites, discussions groups and the download sites have also emerged. 'Contemporary Electronic Soundscapes' is one of them. And in a short time, this site began to offer a 3 Cd box set of great Poland EM to download. Everything is for free, with a goal to reach- to promote local EM. At the same time, it makes the promotion of the EM, Berlin School style. A judicious choice it is to open this compilation with the music of Jarek Degórski. This Polish synthesist has the beat in his blood, as we can hear on his latest cd 'Organix'. March Mission is a track animated on good heavy polyrhythmic sequential lines. Synths are suave and harmonious. A good rhythmic title which starts this compilation on the right foot. Next one is el_vis and it's the first time I hear his music. I hope it won't be the last time. Mars Reflect-Ion is a progressive track with heavy sequences background. A well structured track that fits perfectly the random forms of Berlin School work structures. An artist to explore more deeply. Kaj Foster presents here a quite beautiful ambient track in Conquest of Mars. It holds a great floating melody. Nice ambient work here. Certamen is certainly my preferred keyboardist from this new Poland EM ascension. An artist with an extremely varied musical universe who decided to drop the abstract dimensions of EM, to create more animated music, kind Berlin School and it's perfect. Earth, published last year and which I reviewed on Guts Of Darkness, was outstanding. One of the best EM opuses in 2004. With Valles Marineris, Certamen continues on its impetus. Evolutionary sequential lines on beautiful synth solos. Third Satellite of Mars of a.ero is another discovery. A pure delight in Berlin School with a Jean Michel Jarre zest. Though a little long, it remains to be discovered. Amee Agaru closes this first cd on a slightly hypnotic tempo. Blue, Black, Red progress through static percussions and great synth solos.
With cd 2, we enter into a lighter world of EM, more accessible with a techno pop spirit, like Konrad Kucz's 'Odyssey' and very robot-like 'Walking Probe' of Geiger Box, strongly inspired by Kraftwerk. But there are also beautiful melodies which hang like 'Song of Ancient Mountain' of Pharaoh. It is for all tastes. With olo's 'On Mars by Bike' we go through a more ambient stuff. Not commercial at all. The beat is slow and hypnotic. A movement that continues with the very appealing '975' of Polaris. Superbly languorous, not too ambient, just in between with superb synthesizer passages. Vanderson is another unknown to my ears, 'Memories from Red Planet' is a rather similar title like Polaris, a track which progresses like a space bolero. Not ambient or rhythmic, a beautiful mixture of two fluids which give a superb melody. To hear and discover, just like 'Another Voice from Mars' of Andymian, a long vigorous title who uses a military march, much like Endorphin with their 'The Chronicles of Mars'.
This 3rd portion of the box is softer, silkier, and even more ambient. March (Prelude 2 Rain) of Human Error begins on a soft piano with synthetic spirits. Whereas our eyelids are closed, a beautiful arabesque rhythm comes to seek our attention. An ambiguous title which oscillates between the nostalgic dazes with great orchestrations arrangements and tribal rhythms. The romantic segment continues with 'Martian Sailing Vessels' from Krzysztof Horn. A slow title with atmospheric progression which balances on a hypnotic melody that accentuates its move as it progresses. The Celestine voice is very beautiful here. Anthares carry on with a very ambient track on heavy synthetic layers, just like 'Travelling across the Red Desert from Vix'. You liked Krzysztof Horn? 'Martian Autumn' de PaDoBa will charm you as much. A superb melody. What could be better than to enclose this superb initiative by pure Berlin School? 'Going To Mars?' from 9th layer is what there is moreover Berlin School. A title with a hesitant intro and atmospheric pad., Synthesizers seek their essence from this vaporous ambient tone, animating a sequential line with rhythm and determination around the 7th minute spot, witch this long title crosses the Berlin School spirit. Well formed rhythms which fit various tangents, in a whole synchronization with heavy and nervous synthetic layers. It's only recently that I joined the team of Guts of Darkness. Since I am there, I endeavour to make known the differences between the various orientations of EM. Ticket to Mars will clear up this imbroglio that I (accidentally I must say) created when I wrote my first chronicle on EM. Give yourself a treat pleasure and download this music, while it's still there. After that, turn off the lights and sit down for a relax. Let you lull and travel through the various musical spheres which is EM, as initiated and produced by pioneers as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Kraftwerk. A pure delight, totally free. Only the addiction which will follow could cost some money.

Bei SynGate, das CD-R-Label von Lothar Lubitz, erscheint Anfang April 2007 der Sampler "The Collective Volume 2" als DoppelCD. Damit führt Lothar den erfolgreichen Sampler aus 2005 fort. Und nicht nur das, diese Veröffentlichung stellt auch gleich ein Jubiläum dar, denn es ist die 100. CD des Labels.
Lothar hat für die CD wieder eine Reihe an Musiker seines Labels als auch weitere Elektroniker gewinnen können, die bisher unveröffentlichte Stücke zur Verfügung stellten. Neben komplett neuen Tracks finden sich aber auch alternative Versionen bereits veröffentlichter Stücke auf den beiden Silberscheiben. Dabei hat er eine sehr ausgewogene Zusammenstellung auf die beiden CDs gebracht, so dass man die CDs in einem durchhören kann, ohne dass an irgendeiner Stelle ein Bruch entsteht.
Randvoll sind die beiden Silberlinge gepackt, die es auf eine Gesamtspielzeit von 156 Minuten bringen. Unter den beteiligten Musikern finden wir Mac of BIOnighT, moonbooter, Erik Seifert, Wellenfeld, Uwe Reckzeh, Keller & Schönwälder, Rainbow Serpent, maxxess, Frank Klare und Deep Imagination, um nur einige zu nennen. Wie die Namen schon vermuten lassen, bietet die CD vor allem harmonische und melodische Elektronikklänge der Stilrichtungen Ambient und traditioneller Elektronik á la „Berliner Schule“. Und Acts wie moonbooter, Erik Seifert und Wellenfeld bringen dann noch den nötigen Drive durch ihre frischen Sounds und Rhythmen auf die CD. Und wer den Gitarren-Wizard Max Schiefele aka maxxess kennt, der ahnt, das auch die E-Gitarre auf den Scheiben nicht zu kurz kommt, denn er hat zum einen seinen Track „Running“ „remaxxed“, wie er es selbst nennt und ist auch bei dem Frank Klare Stück „Awakening Out Of Dreams“, das in der uncut-Version vorliegt, zu hören.
Die Scheibe beginnt mit dem sehr hypnotisch angelegten Stück „Vortex“ von Certamen, das neben seinem Sequenzersound, der an Tangerine Dream erinnert, streckenweise auch die Magie eines John Carpenter-Soundtracks aufweist. Das folgende „Message From An Alien“ von Back To The Moon ist zwar ein gesungener Track, passt aber mit seiner leichten Pianolinie und dem im Hintergrund aufleuchtenden leicht floydigen Gitarrensound sehr gut auf den Sampler. Durch geschickte Überblendungen wirkt der Sampler sehr kompakt und in sich stimmig. Alle 24 Tracks hier zu beschreiben, sprengt den Rahmen, daher sollte sich der Hörer unbedingt einen eigenen Eindruck verschaffen.
Mit „The Collective Volume 2“ ist SynGate ein toller Sampler gelungen, den man durchhören kann, ohne dass Langeweile aufkommt. Wer kennt das nicht: Man mischt sich eine CD aus verschiedenen Stücken seiner Lieblingsmusiker. Mit dieser DoppelCD hat Lothar dem Elektronikfreund diese Arbeit abgenommen, denn er versammelt auf der neuen CD eine ganze Schar an wirklich sehr guten Elektronikmusikern der „Jungen Garde“. Und der geneigte Fan erhält von seinem Lieblingsmusiker, sofern auf der CD vorhanden, hiermit auch noch unveröffentlichte Stücke für seine Sammlung.
Diese CD, die noch oft die Runden in meinem Player drehen wird, ist eine absolute Empfehlung, bietet sie doch neben der guten Musik auch einige neue Namen und gibt einen Einblick in die Künstler des Labels.
